Welding processes
MIG welding uses a continuously fed wire as both electrode and filler material. Argon or helium typically protects the arc and weld pool from oxidation.
It works especially well for non-ferrous metals such as aluminium and copper, offers high welding speeds, and produces clean welds with little rework. Outdoor use is less suitable because shielding gas can be dispersed by wind.
MAG welding relies on active shielding gases such as CO2 or mixed gases and is highly popular when steels need to be welded quickly and reliably.
It combines speed, flexibility, and automation potential. Like MIG welding, it depends on clean surfaces and controlled surroundings to keep weld quality consistent.
Beyond TIG, MIG, and MAG, the right welding route can also involve more specialized methods depending on access, seam length, and automation needs.
Stud welding is efficient for fast fastening tasks where one-sided access and high joint strength matter.
Stick welding remains versatile and outdoor-friendly, especially for steel work, but depends more on operator skill and post-processing.
Submerged arc welding becomes attractive for long seams and high-productivity industrial setups where repeatability matters.

TIG welding uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode and is known for exceptionally clean, high-quality weld seams.
It is suitable for nearly all metallic materials, including thin sheets and demanding metals such as titanium. The trade-off is lower speed and higher skill requirements.
Laser welding joins materials with a focused beam that creates very high energy density on a small area. That supports high precision, deep narrow seams, and low thermal distortion.
The process also comes with higher investment costs, stricter protection measures, and more demanding positioning of the workpieces.
Gas welding generates heat through the combustion of a fuel gas with oxygen and remains useful for mobile repair work and thin-sheet applications.
Its downsides are lower speed, greater thermal distortion risk, and stricter safety requirements around gas handling.
Beyond the best-known options, additional welding methods such as stud, stick, or submerged arc welding can be the right fit depending on geometry and production setup.
